American socialite Paris Hilton plans to return to South Africa in June after a surprise visit to South Africa, her organisers said at the weekend.
She is accompanying her boyfriend, Benji Madden, of Good Charlotte band.
Last week the heiress had Pretoria “tannies” gushing when she visited the Jakaranda Children’s Orphanage. Staff members described her as “a lovely human being, a gentle lady”.
Famous bands such as heavy metal rockers Korn and alternative rock band Muse were upstaged as Paris stole the limelight.
Also taking a back seat for a change was Johannesburg socialite and former Muvhango actress Khanyisile Mbau, who describes herself as the Paris Hilton of South Africa. She sat alone with her millionaire husband, Mandla Mthembu, as they waited in vain to meet Hilton.
“I thought it would be nice to have pictures taken of the black and the white socialites together,” said Mbau.
Organisers told Mbau to try again in June, when Hilton is expected back.
