A winner was proclaimed on Tuesday night's finale of heiress Paris Hilton's MTV reality show Paris Hilton's My New BFF. And who, pray tell, is the lucky winner? Why, it's none other than aspiring rock goddess Brittany Flickinger. "I hope you'll join me for our life together because you're my new BFF," Paris told Brittany. "Are you ready for a crazy life?" Yes, Brittany Flickinger is Paris Hilton's new BFF. BFD.
For the sake of argument, let's pretend that Brittany Flickinger came on the show not to advance her fledgling music career, but rather because she truly wanted to be Paris Hilton's best friend for life. I know, I know, it will require you to seriously suspend your disbelief, but you can do it. Now ask yourself this: Why would anyone in their right mind want to be Paris Hilton's best friend?
Here are Brittany Flickinger’s photos:

As far as I can tell, Paris Hilton's most impressive quality is that she is a genius of self-promotion. It's a shame she doesn't use her formidable publicity skills for a good cause. Instead, she uses them for self-glorification. She is the quintessential narcissist. I mean, come on, just look at the way she poses and preens every time she gets in front of a camera. Why are people so obsessed with this woman? What has she done? What important contribution has she made to society?

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the Paris Hilton phenomenon is that she is a role model to so many impressionable young girls. And don't think that she doesn't have a tremendous influence. She is an international celebrity whose name is consistently one of the most popular search engine topics. She is ubiquitous. She's on magazine covers; she has her own jewelry line; she has a best-selling book; she has a chain of nightclubs; and she's paid $100,000 just to show up at a restaurant or private party for an hour or two. When you stop and think about it, the magnitude of her celebrity is astonishing. And for what?

But anyone with just a scintilla of wisdom and maturity understands that Paris Hilton represents the very worst of modern American culture. Which is to say, she has become a symbol of selfishness, superficiality, entitlement, excess, greed, materialism, anti-intellectualism, arrogance, promiscuity and narcissism.
Paris Hilton is not going away any time soon. Presently, she is filming the second installment of the series. This time, she's out to find a BFF in England. As previously mentioned, Paris Hilton's reach is global
